General Election Information
Township Clerk Linda Kramer is the Chief Election Official and responsible for the
management of all elections held in Charleston Township. Township Clerk Kramer may

HOW DO I REGISTER TO VOTE?
Anyone over the age of 18 years of age is eligible to vote in the State of Michigan.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Township Hall to complete a registration form, or may download an application form and return it to the Township Offices at:

WHERE DO I VOTE?
On Election Day, all registered voters in Charleston Township may vote in person
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Township Hall, 1499 South 36th
Street.
WHAT IF I CAN'T GET TO THE TOWNSHIP HALL TO VOTE ON ELECTION DAY?
Voters with specific needs may request an absentee ballot by completing the on-line application
and sending it to the Township Hall. A certified election ballot will be mailed to the
registered voter once the completed absentee voter application is received and approved
by the Township Clerk. Please remember, all absentee ballots MUST be received at the
Township Hall prior to the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day to ensure their
ballot is counted.
Voters with specific needs may also petition to receive absentee ballot applications for

WHAT IF I LOSE MY VOTER IDENTIFICATION CARD?
A voter identification card is not required to vote on Election Day. However, recent
changes in Michigan administrative rules will require every voter to show a state-issued
picture identification to be eligible to vote in the November 2007 election.
