The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) - Oil, Gas and Minerals Division (OGMD) is holding a public hearing on 10/19/2023 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Charleston Township Hall, 1499 South 38th Street, Galesburg, Michigan 49053. The meeting is being held to gather public comments regarding a proposal by Savoy Energy LP for a Class II Brine Disposal Well known as the Bolhuis 2-29 SWD. This well is subject to the provisions of Part 615, Supervisor of Wells, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, Public Act 451 pf 1994, as amended (Part 615) and the administrative rules pursuant to Part 615. This proposed Class II Brine Disposal Well will inject brine that is brought to the surface in conjunction with oil and natural gas development activity. The brine is proposed to be injected in an interval known as the Niagaran Formation at a depth of 2,407 feet below the surface and the well is proposed to be located approximately 1,230 feet southeast of the intersection of M L Avenue and 38th Street, in the SW/4 SE/4 SE/4 of Section 29, Charleston Township (T2S, R9W), Kalamazoo County.
